WHY MASSAGE THERAPY?

Massage Therapy is the study of soft tissue and the manipulation of it. This is the connection between the moving and the still body. The adult skeletal system is comprised of 206 bones. To create movement, soft tissue like muscles, fascia, tendons, skin and ligaments work together. The muscles in the body work together and oppose each other to create balance and tension.

Massage therapy can help you to improve posture, reduce stress, overcome chronic pain, or recover from a traumatic incident.  Massage Therapy is an integral part of healthcare and may be recommended for a list of health conditions, some of which are:

Stress & Anxiety Management

Sports Injuries

Dysfunction of the TMJ (Jaw)

Headaches

Pregnancy

Movement Restrictions

Scar Tissue Release from adhesions or surgery

What Should I Expect?

Your Massage Therapist will create a treatment plan with you from the time you book, starting with an extensive health history form pre-visit.  This is to help determine any contraindications or modifications needed prior to your upcoming appointment.

When you arrive, you will have a discussion on the "why" of your seeking treatment. An assessment, including movement and discussion about pain and expectations and then it's treatment time!

You will be asked for your consent throughout the treatment and be checked in with regarding pressure. Sometimes, it can be a little bit uncomfortable during treatment if the muscles are sore, so we will talk about your comfort and guide you through breathing techniques.

Remember, you are in control!

If you need anything throughout, please let us know.

Post-Massage, we will have a debrief and post-assessment and then talk about Treatment Plan and Home Care. Take notes on how you feel after the treatment and we will discuss at your next appointment!

What Do I Wear?

Wear whatever is most comfortable for you!

You are in complete control.

We will start the treatment in your regular clothes. Try to wear loose moving clothing as during the assessment, we will recreate movement.

During the treatment, you are allowed to wear whatever you would like. We only undrape the tissue we are working on and use the sheets as a boundary, re-covering as we move on to the next area.

We are respectful of your boundaries and respect that everyone's comfort level is different and have past experiences. This is a safe and inclusive space.

Ready To Work Together?

Upon Initial Treatment, we will work together to establish your treatment goals. We will modify your goals at each appointment, curtailing to how your body is feeling each day you have your treatment.

Home care is given at the end of each treatment and will work towards the goals that you have.
